THE MUFTI OF PERLIS: TO JOIN PKR?

KOTA BAHARU, 22 Jun (Bernama) — Mufti Perlis Dr Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin menafikan sekeras-kerasnya dakwaan bahawa beliau telahpun menyertai Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR).

Why should he, just because he admitted he supported some policies of a certain party (PKR) and opposed other policies as well?

If he were to join any political party, it would be more likely be either PAS or UMNO.

PKR is too secular; its Muslim key political leaders are promoting too socialist or modern brand of Islam which have no place in this country. What more, its adviser DSAI, is seen so closely associated with the US administration and other western powers that Muslims ridicule when he was considered a devout Muslim by them. Its non-Muslim leaders on the other hand, affiliated/ associated with international human rights philosophies, are seen to be an imminent danger to the Islamic religion, fundamentals and practices. PKR association with the DAP is also a real killer for obvious reasons.

PKR is viewed as a opportunist political party but one which cannot promote and expand Islam in this country; PKR appears to have hoodwinked Muslims/ Malays who are unsatisfied or angry with the abuse and plundering of the Nation’s wealth by certain leaders and their families. PKR has yet to come forward with concrete ideas and plans to promote and develop Islam in this country. For this reason, PKR although it members are majority Malays, cannot champion Malay rights and interests; its present “strong” position have been contributed by protest votes against certain elements of the current administration. I would believe that once the weak leadership of UNNO is replaced from within, the likely hood for PKR’s strength to quickly diminish as Malaysians will desert them at the next election.

PAS and UMNO on the other hand are seen to be parties capable to deliver the best interest of the Malays and interests. If a party cannot represent and deliver the interest of the Muslims, it has no place with the Malays. Only Muslims (defined as those who submit to the will of Allah) would understand how dear Allah and Islam is to them. Muslims understand their responsibilities to non-Muslims in maintaining peace and tranquility in this multi-racial and religus beloved country of ours.

I would believe that’s one of the bases of the Mufti’s position.

End.
