THE BABI ISSUE

The proposed Pig farming at Ladang Tumbuk, Hulu Langat costing RM100 MILLION.

To Pas and PKR,

they desperately need to demonstrate that they stand behind DAP, their restless bed partner in Pakatan Rakyat. PKR looks at cost benefits of the Project and finds it more hygienic compared to the existing method being used by the 300 or so pig farmers in Selangor. In addition to that, Pas is also convinced under their interpretation of Islam provides sufficient justification as flexibilities under a multi-racial religious society to support the Project. Pas would even compare the Project to be of equal standing to the most modern and sophisticated manner of rearing pigs as in New Zealand and Germany. (By the way these two countries are not ‘Islamic’ countries or have sizable Muslim populations; why such comparison is made I just refuse to know).

The Yang Dipertua, Yayasan Dakwah Islamiah Malaysia (Yadim) had the following to say;

Selangor’s State Position

So enthusiastic was En. Yaakob Sapari, Selangor’s Exco for Permodenan Pertanian, Sumber Alam Sekitar dan Pembangunan Usahawan Selangor, in forewarning any parties from manipulating the issue to the extent of disclosing official documents to prove that the Project was already approved by the previous government. Oh my, look at the risk he is willing to take all in the name of Pigs. Approved and implementation are two different issues; a lot of things can be approved but are never implemented. En. Yaakob Sapari should definitely not hide the least bit behind the previous government’s approval to justify his action. Menteri Besar, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, too was passionately defending the Project.

My thoughts

I wonder why this Pig issue, of all development projects, was brought out so quickly by the DAP Teresa Teng soon after she was sworn in as State Assembly woman. It’s almost as quickly as when Guan Eng upon swearing in as Penang Chief Minister announced that NEP would not apply in Penang. Then I also then realized that similarly in Perak where the new state government would issue permanent land titles to about 10,000 holders of temporary occupation licenses (TOL) in 134 new villages giving a total value of maybe RM500mil to these families of which 85% are not Malays.

Why these were so quickly announced? Then I recollect a political related conversation about more than 15 years ago with one of my late brothers who was then a senior civil service officer at one of the State Secretariats. He warned about this one racist chauvinist party (which has the National Flower as their party emblem) has the following objectives in mind should they win the elections

1. Dispense with NEP. All citizens are Malaysians with equal rights and privileges (and you would have ‘dunggu’ Malays supporting such equal rights – the so-called educated socialists. But they do not realize that their ‘buntut’ is being played).

2. To reward their long standing loyal supporters, this racist party will issue out thousands of land titles to the ‘landless’ in the new villages; a promise they have made for so long to their party faithfuls. (Never mind the others , they should be happy to be to have their mere fines forgiven).

3. To belittle the Malays and as a boastful show of power, they will organize the rear on large scale the food which we Malays don’t eat – the Pig (the cost benefit and high tech manner of production are just deception to the true objectives)

Now that these eventualities have crystallized/ proclaimed under the banner of Pakatan Rakyat, does it not depict that DAP is leading its stewardship while PAS and PKR are panting and wagging their tongues defending these actions with more to come. What say DSAI that ‘UMNO not Malays under threat’? And what about the local party that champions Islam – Issue out new fatwas on Pigs and proudly proclaim ‘Ali Rustam 'dibelasah' dalam blog?’

I was always believed truth is seldom revealed before our simple eyes, indeed we have to reflect and reflect with lots of faith to remove their deceptions and able to see the trees from the forest. To PAS and PKR members, as a reminder – are you a Muslim, Malay or a Malaysian first or so does it make any difference. Let’s not get Pig headed about it
